Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day I've been saving this photo since February. I think it says it all. We need to practice safe ways to dispose of trash so that animals don't get hurt by our trash and work on ways to reduce our waste. I looked over our fence and was horrified to see this poor steer trying to eat this trash. I'm happy to say, he finally spit it out and moved on to actual grass. Have a great Earth Day!

Excellent Earth Day presentation! I'm so glad that this incident had a happy ending. The second graders and I have been studying the trash problem and other similar concerns.

I remember a sculpture you made from trash for art or Earth Day. I thought it was pretty cool. I am glad 2nd graders have been studying trash, too. We have way too much trash!

Yes, I made a "tree of life" from trash. It was for science class. I won a prize, but I don't remember what place. It might have been honorable mention. I kept it for years until it started to fall apart and was so dusty that you couldn't clean it. It was lots of fun. One thing I used was twine that Mom and I had rolled up at the end of the driveway. One end of this long piece of twine ended at our driveway, so for fun we slowly reeled it in till we had a big ball of it!

Oh and my first year in college for 3-D art class I had to go to the recycling center and get "stuff" to make sculptures out of. One piece I made out of brass gas lines. I still have it. They have strange stuff at recycling centers.

Maybe you can make some more junk sculptures and sell them.
