Halloween!

Matthew got to preschool early so they could trick or treat at the businesses. Then we went to the Halloween parade and trick or treated at the businesses again, truck and treated, and finally went to the Halloween egg hunt. When we got home this is how much loot he had...

WOW, is the only word I can think of...other then cavity.

This is what happened tonight.
Me: Matthew, your Dad is eating all your good candy.
Matthew: Ok, I have to finish this airplane...

Here's hoping that everyone had a bewitchingly good Halloween!

Spooktacular

Saturday was Dad's birthday. We decided to celebrate by taking him out to eat and taking Matthew to the nearby zoo to trick or treat.

Walking up.

Angry puss in boots or I have the sun in my eyes.

Watching the sloth bear.

He had a really good time. By time we got home it was supper time and we were all exhausted. I haven't felt good for a month, so I went to lay down for half an hour. About 30 minutes later,
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs and decided I better get up and take care of the boy, cause he was probably into something. My jaw dropped because who I found in the hall was...

...Phil! He flew in just to surprise us and be here for Halloween. He even had a friend pick him up at the airport and made them swear not to tell, so we were all surprised. He was supposed to get in by noon, so he would have been able to be a the zoo with us, but the plane had problems. It was such a great surprise. It's been a quick trip, but wonderful!

Mr. Mugwort Pumpkin

We decided that we better carve our pumpkin tonight. Tomorrow will be pretty busy for us. So I asked him to draw me a face to carve. This is what he drew.

Here he is, a mugwort pumpkin.

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Fest 2011

Tonight they had Pumpkin Fest at Matthew's preschool. The boy came home mega excited to go! Here he is with Holly making the ever crucial decisions on what silly bands to choose.

We became scarecrows.

We had cookies for dinner, after we had a bat and pumpkin painted on our face. One of his best friends, Bradley, in the background. They were attempting to share suckers and juice with each other. That's real friends.

Holding all our loot.

And decorating his pumpkin. He had the best time playing with his friends after dark, while listening to "scary" music!

We leave you this evening with a little movie showing what the boy was doing in the face painting line. He was cracking me up!

Last of the Halloween photos

On Halloween, we went to our very first Halloween egg hunt. Here is Matthew waiting.

And he's off! He got alot of the orange and black eggs.

The Grandparents pumpkins.

Our pumpkin that Phil carved for us.

Today we went to the after Halloween sales. Matthew rode the bull.

Halloween Party and Halloween parade

We went to the Halloween party where my Grandmom lives yesterday.

They had lots of games, candy, and food. It's was really fun!

3 of the 4 generations.

Grandmom and I

Angela came in time to walk in the Halloween parade with us.

We saw one of Matthew's little friend and her family, while walking in the parade. If you look you'll see Matthew's frog costume from years past in the arms of the man. Sob, yes, I sold the frog costume...and it's so dirty now...sob...And when Matthew saw it he said, "I have that costume!" Well you did...

Our good friend and former coworker, Beverly.

Matthew and our neighbor girl. Dorothy was a VERY popular costume this year. I probably saw 20 in just our small town. And if I didn't mention it, Matthew's costume we made this year. I designed the wings and MaMaw sewed them for me.

Last day at school

Aren't they sweet?

The Bat

He's standing with the pumpkins they decorated at story time today. You can't see much because Mallory got in on the action. :) He'll have 4 days of Halloween this year, lucky guy.

In other news, yesterday evening we discovered that our property management company has been banned from renting to the military by government action, because of unfair practices. Yikes! On top of that, they have an F rating by the Better Business Bureau. I guess we really picked the wrong house. So we are scrambling to get on with a different company and a different house. Wish us luck and maybe say lots of prayers.

Show off

Obviously Phil is home and took the decorating to a whole new level. I love that man!

What we've been doing so far this week

I've been hearing that there is a pumpkin shortage this year. To be on the safe side, Matthew and I stocked up.

We've decorated for Halloween.

We've been using up the last of the delicious apples.

Fresh apple cake.

Rosy applesauce, cinnamon applesauce, and apple cheddar soup. We'll be sad to see the last of the apples go...but to tell you the truth, I'm getting tired of applesauce.

Halloween 2009 Part III Adult Fun

Showing off our Halloween costumes before we go out and about to one of our favorite places.

My ancient (15 yrs old) "witchy" cat Robin Lee wanted to be a part of it.

Some of the Halloween decor at the place we went.

"Little Red Riding Hood" and the "Black Hat Society Witch."

Halloween 2009 Part II Trick or Treating

While trick or treating at my Grandmom's, we ran across my oldest friend Heather, her husband, her mom Lina, and her daughter. Here her "ladybug" is being held by Lina.

Great Grandmom decided to try the "frog hat" on.

A very successful trick or treating event has come to an end! And man was that pumpkin stuffed full.
