Homemade biscuits and apple butter

For awhile now Matthew has been wanting to help me cook. Normally it involves working over a stove with hot pans and liquids, but when I'm baking, I've been trying to let him help me.

So last month when we were knee deep in apples, we made homemade biscuits to go with our homemade apple butter.

Matthew got messy, made a mess, and some biscuits.

They turned out very yummy! Matthew gave it a thumbs up.

I had never heard of apple butter until I moved to PA. I love the stuff! Matthew looks like a champion biscuit baker. :)

I think it is wonderful that Matthew will know how to cook when he grows up and goes out on his own. It looks like he had a great time, judging by the flour everywhere!

The best chefs seem to be men: just look @ the TV cooking shows & hotel head chefs! You GO Matthew! You are the bomb, mom! Involving him in your day & letting him interact is so great for his self-confidence & imagination. (His wife will be grateful for his ability to cook too!)
