kinderGARDEN Thursday: week 14

Our first tomato crop! NOT! Our neighbor brought us over a bag full of yummy tomatoes. Our garden is only growing peppers so far.

So this...

+ this...

= Yum! Well, to me anyway. Matthew has decided that tomatoes are on the yucky list, just like his Dad. The only way he likes them is in spaghetti sauce, ketchup, and salsa.

My husband is a treat. He doesn't like avocados except in guac. He can't stand tomatoes except in spaghetti sauce, ketchup, and salsa. He can't stand onions except in salsa. And the list of veggies goes on! I'm trying to raise Matthew to be more like me but I'm losing ground!

Let's just say its genetic so you won't have any guilt, lol! Those tomatoes may be on someone's yucky list but they're making my stomach growl! Kim

Ah, my oldest hated tomatoes until last year. We made a deal last year - you take ten bites of tomatoes over the course of the summer. After ten, if you don't want more, that's fine. By the tenth bite (sometime in September) she'd decided she really quite liked tomatoes. Now she eats them right off the vine. So don't lose hope!
Lucky you to have such generous neighbors, those sure look delicious!

I did lot like tomatos when I was little, but I loved apple cucumbers, used to eat them peeled, just like an apple. Then my grandmother told me the tomatos were red cucumbers - I have loved them ever since!

LOL- I understand where Phil and Matthew are coming from- this is why I frequently offer the tomatoes that are on my sandwich and/or in my salad. I love vegetables but I just can't seem to get into tomatoes. I think it's a texture thing!
