Our news on the last day of summer

You know how I know it's basically fall? I see the fuzzy caterpillars on the move again. Goldenrod and sunflowers are in their prime. The sedum has turned a beautiful shade of pink. The grasses have started turning golds and bronzes, while the occasional maple is starting it's spectacular show. The air is cooler in the morning. And most of all, I feel slightly melancholy. I always do this time of year. I guess it's because fall is ushering in the close of the growing season, bringing with it all the new things that go with new school years. I suppose it's heightened this year because we are moving November 1st to Fort Hood, TX. It will be the first time, since Phil and I have been married, that my family isn't close by. It will be the first move, that we won't have any family closer then 500 miles away. It could have been worse, but it could have been better. I'm sure once we are all settled in there will be many positives we can think of, but for now there is only 4 I can think of. 1. we'll be a real family again, all under the same roof 2. we'll be within 5 hours of the beach (BP made have ruined this option) 3. winter will be warmer 4. I can grow some more exotic plants.

It shall be an interesting journey. Keep us in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts as we go on this new journey.

wow. and after you did all that work on your house! :(

i am glad that you will all be together. how wonderful that will be! hubby's company is sending more and more employees down to tx, we have often wondered what we would do if they moved hubby's department down there. like you, it would mean moving away from a lot of family. will be praying for you!

I share your sorrow about the miles between your lovely little family and your folks, and know that you have treasured all the years near each other. I believe that with your positive attitude you will find many more exciting aspects of Phil, Anne and Matthew in Texas. I have a vision of F.J. and Beth driving south often!!!! Love, Maurine

You all have thrived, but know that with your positive attitude you will find many more reasons to value having Phil, Anne and Matthew in Texas. I can see F.J. and Beth driving south often!!! YOU'RE MOVING??? I don't know what to say. Well, a positive is that I now have a nice vacation spot to visit :) (I'll have to come during winter though, you know how much I hate the hot nasty weather).

I'm glad that you'll be able to see your man on a daily basis again. I'm sure he's looking forward to that too. Kansas will miss you but not as much as I will.

Yes, it could be worse - we haven't been closer than 1200 miles from home (mine), 3000 (his) in 20 years (for me), 10 years (for him) LOL! It will be hard, but you will be up to the challenge. At least you can still do the holiday drives in one day. It takes us 23 hours straight through, which we used to do but now with the kids that has stretched into a 2 day drive LOL! You are right about the gardening - better get some good gloves girlfriend, you'll be gardening 365 days a year! Good luck with all the planning, I don't envy that one bit :)

Dang! Since you are really going, I hope that you find work that interests you, that Phil gets to do something cool that he really wants to do, and that Matthew has a good place to stay (when you are working) that EVERYONE likes.
