Hello all you lovely mommies! I hope that you all had a fabulous day with your kids and family. We visited and ate lunch with my Grandmom. She enjoyed the balloon and corsage we brought her.
As for me, I was shuttled back to bed yesterday morning (after I'd ate half a breakfast bar) and a bowl of peas and a biscuit showed up for breakfast in bed. It was the best peas I ever ate. I was also presented with this beautifully decorated pot. It is a dinosaur and butterfly trying to outrun the blue tornado on the left. (Matthew has decided tornadoes wiped out the dinosaurs.) After lunch we went to the garden shop and picked out a toothache plant and the trailing plant that isn't petunias, for the pot. It was an awesome day!

Happy Mother's Day

I've decided that you haven't really lived, until you are pushing your cart through a busy store with your child brandishing a half gallon of chocolate milk and loudly proclaiming, "Bring out your chocolate milk. Bring out your chocolate milk and then you can be like me. Bring out your chocolate milk." Ahhhh, the joys of motherhood! Happy Mother's Day.

Weekend grilling fun
When we were first married I bought Phil a nice propane grill. My husband is a huge fan of grilling and will do it in any weather. It took about 5 years of pretty steady use and finally, the grates in the bottom that conduct the heat evenly, wore out and gave up. That was last fall. This spring Phil couldn't take it anymore and went out and bought a charcoal grill. The advantage of this is grilled marshmallows. Last weekend I thought about toasting some too late and the coals were cold. This weekend right after we got done eating, I taught Matthew how to toast his first marshmallow.
The key to a non-charcoaled marshmallow is even rotating. And from a Mom standpoint a fresh clean twig.
Once it's nice and brown, take it off and bite it.
Let the melty goo stick all over you.
Then spend the rest of the night trying to get all the goo off yourself. Heaven help you if you step on a dropped toasted marshmallow. If you've been to Girl Scout camp, you know your shoe will NEVER be the same again. (And I do realize it's not Halloween, but Matthew insisted.)
We had a great Mother's Day weekend. Sunday we went to eat with my parents. My Auntie delighted us by showing up too. My Grandmom has been in the hospital for a week, while they try and drain the water out of her and off her heart. Both my parents told me to expect this year to be her last, so I've decided that Matthew and I will make the most of the summer with her. We visited Grandmom at the hospital and she was in good spirits. We traded funny animal stories and did alot of laughing. I didn't make it to go ditch diving again. Maybe tomorrow evening. How did you all spend your Mother's Day?

Big footed galoot and a productive weekend
We have had a big weekend. Saturday Phil and Matthew left in the morning for haircuts and gas, while I cleaned the kitchen. After lunch Matthew napped, while Phil and I tackled the yard. Both lawnmowers had been on the fritz, but Phil changed the spark plugs and we were in business. I pushed mowed and he riding mowed for 3 hours, after which he weed-eated, or however you spell it. In the middle of it I got a call that they were planning to tear down the old house we got bulbs from and should come dig all the rest we wanted. So Mom came and got Matthew for a sleep over and I dug bulbs. I have as many daffodils as I can manage at the moment, I think. I shared a variety with my mom, as well as lily of the valley's I dug for her. It pays to watch my son. While I was digging, the man who had bought the house stopped by. He let us in the house and yeah! He's letting me take any moldings, lights, doors, windows, and doorknobs I want out of the house! I'm very happy to receive more trim as I needed more for our house projects. After I got home and showered the dirt off me, Phil and I went on a little date night to dinner and a movie. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is very funny, but definately a chick flick. I believe Phil wished he was at Star Trek instead.
Today we journeyed to my parents to retrieve our bundle of love and celebrate Mother's Day. We ate lunch and then went to see Great-Grandmom. She was in a great mood and Matthew put on a good show. She even thanked us for bringing live entertainment. Now Matthew and I are relaxing while Phil is on his way home. The weekend just in never long enough for this family.
